Abstract
The Section on Statistics and the Environment was founded in 1990 to reflect the usage of statistical methodology in analyzing important environmental problems. The Section serves as a focal point for developing enhancements to methodology and improving training in environmental statistics. This article describes the origination and ongoing activities of the Section, including its vision, mission, and strategic plan.
