Abstract

Chemometrics may be defined as the application of quantitative methods, and particularly multivariate methods, in chemistry. The methods include familiar ones such as principal components analysis and discriminant analysis, as well as less familiar ones such as partial least squares regression (PLS). Typical applications involve regression or discrimination problems with very large numbers of predictor variables.
