ARCHAEOLOGY IN CHINA

Shi Jingsong

Shi Jingsong

1. The following paper is based on three successive lectures which I gave at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology at Copenhagen University, when I was a visiting scholar there from December 1999 to December 2000. Most of the data and opinions in the paper come from Chinese publications. Still, I list an incomplete English bibliography at the end. A lot of sincere thanks should go to Professor Klavs Randsborg, who helped me with almost every aspect during my stay in Copenhagen. I will also thank Dr. Stacey E. Ark, who went over the draft and gave a lot of tips about the language points.
