Abstract

The tunable-dispersion characteristics of a side-polished fiber Bragg grating (FBG) encapsulated in a polymer-half-filled metal cylinder are investigated at different pressures exerted on polymer. The related group velocity delay, chromatic dispersion, and polarization dispersion of the reflection bandwidth of side-polished FBG are measured and analyzed for applications in optical communication systems. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
