Graphical Abstract
Nanohighways: Gold nanowires were used as templates to direct the one-dimensional assembly of nanospheres and nanorods under suitable evaporation conditions, and using oleylamine as a capping agent. The overall optical response of the film can be tuned by varying the distances between the nanoparticles.
