Phytoremediation

Abstract
Der Begriff Phytoremediation bezeichnet hauptsächlich den Einsatz von Pflanzen, einschließlich der mit ihnen assoziierten Mikroorganismen, zur Beseitigung von Umweltschäden oder von Gefährdungen, die von Umweltbelastungen ausgehen. Phytoremediation ist ein Feld, das erst in jüngster Zeit aktuell geworden ist und hier in allgemeiner Form behandelt wird. Der vorliegende Artikel erklärt die verschiedenen Ansätze der Phytoremediation: die Phytotransformation, die Phytoextraktion, die Phytovolatilisierung und die Phytostabilisierung. Er stellt einen Zusammenhang zwischen Pflanzenbewuchs und der Bodenbeschaffenheit, den Mikroorganismen und dem im Boden enthaltenen Schadstoffen her.
