Creativity in Higher Education and Risk-Taking
Summary
Technology has brought industrial development, social networks, health and entertainment to the human world. Like industrial innovations, the success of higher education depends on investment, the pursuit of excellence and the encouragement of creativity and innovation. Without innovation, there is no entrepreneurship. The path where accountability has degenerated into a blame culture concerned only with consequences and not causation, procedural correctness and not innovativeness will lead us to a risk aversion mentality that will hinder innovation and the development of much-needed soulware. Risk aversion taken too far will confuse society, which will eventually harm innovation. One of the characteristics of innovation is the willingness to take risks. Apart from overcoming rigid policies and insufficient investment, the essential component in the modernization of higher education is to face the inherent and socially conservative attitudes encountered in operations, including the high risk of innovation failure.
