Summary

Universities across the Strait are full of vitality, but their academic culture needs to be enhanced. For example, universities in Hong Kong achieve high rankings in UK-based ranking agencies partly because the total number of universities in Hong Kong is small, allowing for a better concentration of resources. Online companies in Japan conducted an interesting survey on what had been the most important invention in Japan since World War II. CityU has been positioned to provide student-centered and innovation-based professional education, committed to the continuous improvement of university administration. Ukraine is known as the breadbasket of Europe, but for over 1,000 years, this part of Eastern Europe has been engulfed by war, carved up by imperialist powers and repeatedly turned over to others. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986 brought Ukraine to the attention of the world. There will surely be many accomplished hermits, notwithstanding the unprepossessing gates.
