Summary

This chapter offers diverse images that provide an overview of acute cholangitis and liver abscesses and aims to provide a synopsis through pictures and illustrations rather than through text. Acute cholangitis and liver abscesses represent infectious processes in the liver. In addition to obtaining a careful history and physical examination of the patient, liver imaging and radiological and endoscopic tests are crucial elements in the assessment and management of these patients. Imaging studies such as ultrasound, as well as cross-sectional imaging such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, can provide important diagnostic information regarding the etiology of a patient's symptoms.
