Summary

This chapter offers diverse images that provide an overview of the tumors of the small intestine and aims to provide a synopsis through pictures and illustrations rather than through text. Tumors of the small intestine originate from epithelial, neuroendocrine, or mesenchymal cells. They are rare and account for only about 2% of all primary gastrointestinal tumors. The chapter summarizes the current knowledge on the various types of small intestinal tumors. Both benign and malignant small bowel tumors are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, and more mechanistic insight is needed to advance therapeutic measures. The chapter includes exceptional images, organized by disease entity and therapeutic modality, including histopathology slides, magnetic resonance image and computed tomographic scans, endoscopy, EUS, and open surgery images.
