This chapter presents a few case studies related to the concepts of accounting firm's audit process, client portals and cloud-based client accounting solution and other portal applications. The case study discusses the firm's use of the Confirmation.com cloud-based software to automate the confirmation of cash, accounts payable, and accounts receivable balances in the audit process. Confirmation.com is a Web-hosted system for processing payables, receivables, and bank confirmations electronically. The system facilitates sending electronic confirmation requests directly to banks and other participating entities to process the confirmation requests automatically and securely. Clients in other countries use the portal to upload their credit card information or wire transfers because of the security the portal provides for transmission and storage.
