Organizations use blended learning to increase instructional value by searching for places where costs can be minimized and technology maximized. A move to the goal blended strategy is used to help learners move toward the objectives they desire. A Do-It-Yourself (DIY) job aid is a strategy that takes learning out of the classroom and puts it back in the workplace in the form of a do-it-yourself job aid. The 411 strategy is a learner-driven strategy intended to generate discussion in an online forum in order to generate discussion on a topic of interest. A gear up your brain is an activity in which participants review a video, magazine article, book passage, or podcast before the class as prework to get an idea of what to expect during the session and to be prepared to discuss related topics. This chapter discusses the strategies with some case examples.
