Experiential learning provides a new way of thinking about an old way of teaching. Hands-on learning is anything but new, as laboratories have been an essential component of many educational philosophies. Historically, hands-on learning has been essential to train task- or skill-heavy jobs. Breaking loose from the typical learning methods and embrace experiential learning in the classroom, on the job, and in blended options. Designing experiential learning activities in classroom activities ensures that learners have an opportunity to practice their skills. Designing activities that relate to the learners' immediate needs ensures that the skills they are practicing are directly related to the challenges they face. Bringing the real world into the classroom benefits learners and the organization by giving learners the skills required to solve today's problems and prevent those of the future.
