Communication

Summary

Communication is the key to success, whether between employees, customers and suppliers, parents and children, or any of a dozen relationships. Every individual and organization would be more successful by improving communication. This chapter offers content ideas for training the one skill that most of us still need to work on. Activities introduce the importance of stories and words in communication and expand our awareness and address the challenges we all face. The chapter discusses different strategies that include communication challenges, generational communication awareness, tell it in a story and it's in the words. The communication challenges are described based on participants, procedure, debrief, variations, and case examples. The communication challenges help participants understand the power of two-way conversation and true dialogue with the communications skills reinforcement. A greater awareness of the differences in communication styles, language, and tools among the generations is provided.
