Chapter 7

Learn with Your Peers

First published: 27 April 2015

Summary

A prerequisite for excellent trainers is a guarantee that participants learn from their peers. When a trainer recognizes this, it builds self-esteem and places responsibility to learn and to share what they know on each participant. Trainers are successful when they identify ways to build on and make use of adults' hard-earned experience. Even the most knowledgeable learn more when sharing with their peers. It helps participants sort out what they understand, what they still need to learn, and what questions they may have as they are involved in their own learning. This chapter discusses strategies that include four square and share, rotating review, angles, tangles and dangles, the power of story, QR code query, and peer assessment. Each strategies are explained based on participants, procedure, debrief, variations and case examples.
