Abstract

Bauld'i.a. N.L. fem. n. Bauldia of Bauld, named in honor of John Bauld, an Australian microbiologist who isolated and investigated members of Prosthecomicrobium and Planctomyces maris.

Proteobacteria / Alphaproteobacteria / Rhizobiales / Hyphomicrobiaceae / Bauldia

Gram-negative, aerobic heterotrophic budding bacteria with cellular appendages (prosthecae) less than 0.65 µm in length. Found in brackish and marine aquatic habitats as well as soils. Aerobic. Nonmotile.

DNA G + C content (mol%): 66–68.5.

Type species: Bauldia litoralis Yee, Oertli, Fuerst and Staley 2010, 2965VP.
