This entry discusses the gendered division of labor in prehistoric foraging (hunter-gatherer) groups. It examines how archaeologists use archaeological and ethnographic data to reconstruct the division of labor and place daily activities in their gendered roles. The impact of the gendered division of labor on gender relations is also addressed.
