Abstract

This paper deals with several legal and risk-based aspects of making precautionary decision in the public interest. It addresses European Union, US, and other statements of regulatory precaution that have been used to make environmental decisions. The purpose of this article is to discuss how the methods in quantitative risk analysis (QRA) can help understand the impact of prospective a precautionary decisions by providing a sound risk management framework
