Self-Consistent Calculations of the Thermodynamic and Elastic Properties of Heavier Rare Gas Solids near the Lattice Instability Point
Abstract
Using the self-consistent phonon theory based on the thermodynamic double-time Green's function method the thermodynamic and elastic properties of the rare gas solids in the vicinity of the instability point are investigated. The results of calculations of the pressure variations of the limiting temperatures of dynamical and thermodynamical stability and selected thermodynamic and elastic properties obtained with the help of the Buckingham (exp, m), Morse (exp, exp) and the generalized form of the Lennard-Jones (n, m) self-consistent potentials are given and compared with experimental data.
