Abstract

A brief history and current review of the use of monolithic catalysts used to abate carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and oxides of nitrogen emissions from gasoline-fueled internal combustion engines using-three way catalytic converters is presented. Abatement of gaseous and particulate matter (soot) from diesel-fueled internal combustion engines using diesel oxidation catalysts, catalysts for the selective reduction of NOx, and soot removal using wall flow filters is presented.
