Abstract

Pharmacoepidemiology deals with the action of drugs within a population. Because of differences in the method of data collection, estimation of pharmacoepidemiologic dose–response parameters is somewhat different from that in biological assay or clinical trials. Pharmacodynamic models to estimate these parameters are reviewed, with a specification of appropriate dose–response variables. Parameter estimation is described, together with mention of appropriate software to do so.
