Abstract

The transition-metal-substituted diphosphenes 2 (M = Fe, Ru) were obtained from the disilylphosphido complexes 1 and a dichlorophosphane. Complexes with MPP structural moieties were previously unknown.

8 Experimental procedure for 2a : Solid 2, 4, 6 - tri - tert - butylphenyldichlorophosphane (1.67g, 4.83 mmol) was added to a solution of 1a (2.05 g, 4.83mmol) in 40 ml of THF at 0°c. The red-brown solution was stirred at 20°C for 30 min and the solvent was then removed under vaccum. The residue was dissolved in 25 ml of hexane and filtered. The ocher yellow residue left on the filter was washed with hexane (2 × 3 ml) and dried in vacuum. Re-Precipitation from THF/pentane afforded 1.43 g (59%) 2a, m.p. = 165–167°C.-¹H-NMR (200 MHz, C₆D₆, 22°C):δ = 1.33 (s, 9H,p-TBu), 1.34(s, 15H, C₅(CH₃)₅), 1.73 (s, 18H, o-TBu), 7.65 (s, 2H, m-Phenyl-H).-13C{1H}-NMR (C₆D₆, 22°C): δ = 9.32 (d, 3J(PC) = 5.6 Hz, C₅(CH₃)₅), 21.60 (s,p-C(CH₃)₃, 34.84 (s, o-C(CH₃)₃), 34.94 (s, p-C(CH₃)₃), 38.87 (s, o-C(CH₃)₃), 97.34 (s, C₅(CH₃)₅), 122.13 (s, m-Phenyl-C), 148.55 and 152.32 (s, and d, respectively, J(PC) = 6.1 HZ, phenyl-C), 216.27 (d, 2J(PC) = 11.9 Hz, Fe-CO).-31P{1H}-NMR (C₆D₆, 22°C): δ = 715.2 (d, 1J(PP) = 594.2 Hz, PFe), 553.5 (d, 1 J(PP) = 594.2 Hz, P-C).-IR (cyclopentane): 2005 s, 1956 s cm⁻¹ (v(CO)).-CI-MS (Varian MAT 312): m/z = 555 (M⁺+H).-Experimental procedure for 2b: Analogously, orange-yellow 2b (1.21 g, 67.5%) was synthesized from 2, 4, 6-Tri-Tert-butylphenyldichlorophosphane (1.035 g, 2.99 mmol) and 1b (1.40 g, 2.99 mmol) in 40 ml of THF. M.p. = 169–170°C.-1H-NMR (200 MHz, C₆D₆, 22°C): δ = 1.33 (s, 9H, p-TBu), 1.45 (s, 15H, C₅(CH₃)₅), 1.75 (s, 18H, o-TBu), 7.65 (s, 2H, m-Phenyl-H).-13C{1H}-NMR (C₆D₆, 22°C): δ = 9.59 (d, 3J(PC) = 4.7 Hz, C₅(CH₃)₅), 31.61 (s, p-C(CH₃)₃), 34.90 (s, o-C(CH₃)₃), 34.94 (s, p-C(CH₃)₃), 38.92 (s,o-C(CH₃)₃), 101.05 (s, C₅(CH₃)₅), 122.17 (s,m-Phenyl-C), 148.56 and 152.32 (s and d, respectively, J(PC) = 7.8 Hz, C-Phenyl), 202.06 (d, 2J(PC) = 13.9 Hz, PRu), 551.6 (d, 1J(PP) = 597.1 Hz, P-C).-IR) (cyclopentane): 2021 s, 1968 s cm⁻¹ (V(CO)).-CI-MS (Varian MAT 312): m/z = 600 (M⁺+H).
