Interne Konversion: Der Energieunterschied zwischen der Franck-Condon- und der Gleichgewichtsgeometrie und die Schwingungsfrequenz einer oder weniger Moden legen die relative Bedeutung der adiabatischen und nicht-adiabatischen Dynamik und somit die Geschwindigkeitskonstante für die Verteilung der elektronischen Energie fest (siehe Bild). In Cycloketonen führen Veränderungen dieser Größen zu einem Unterschied in der Zeitskala des S2→S1-Übergangs.
