- 15There are two reports of heteronuclear triple-stranded helicates containing ruthenium(II). Fletcher et al. constructed a second metal binding site on a preassembled mononuclear ruthenium(II) tris(bipyridine) complex; one isolated isomer of the product was ascribed as the rac structure: N. C. Fletcher, R. T. Brown, A. P. Doherty, Inorg. Chem. 2006, 45, 6132–34. Piguet and co-workers employed an unusually labile ruthenium benzimidazole system to create a Ru–Ln helicate: S. Torelli, S. Delahaye, A. Hauser, G. Bernardinelli, C. Piquet, Chem. Eur. J. 2004, 10, 3503–3516.

Single-crystal diffraction data were recorded on a Bruker Smart 6000 diffractometer equipped with a CCD detector and a copper-tube source. The structures were solved and refined by using SHELX97 (G. M. Sheldrick, SHELX97 [Includes SHELXS97, SHELXL97]—Programs for Crystal Structure Analysis, release 97-2; Institut für Anorganische Chemie der Universität Göttingen, Germany, 1998) and a riding model was used for the hydrogen atoms during refinement. CCDC-636261 contains the supplementary crystallographic data for this paper.
