Summary

This chapter describes the live stereoscopic (S-3D) transmissions in which the authors were involved from 2009 to 2011 as architects, technical advisers, and/or instigators. The chapter discusses capture, transmission, and transmission of S-3D retransmissions and retransmissions of surgical operations, “steadicam” interviews, transatlantic video presentation and bicycle races. The first experiments with live S-3D retransmissions were carried out in the course of the first 3DSM event, which took place in the Palais des Congrès of Liège in Belgium, in 2009. The aim of the surgical operation retransmission was to film in S-3D a surgical operation in one of the operating rooms of the CHU of Liège, transmit the live images to the Cinéma Sauvenière in the center of Liège, and project the S-3D images in a 300-seat movie theater.
