The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of a Teletransmission System with regard to quality of diagnosis and screening so as to establish its potential role in gynaecological cytology. Three aspects of its use in cytopathology have been considered: diagnosis, training, and quality control. The circumstances in which the system may be used for diagnosis, together with its advantages and disadvantages, are examined and discussed. In general, the costbenefit in diagnostic use related to the experience of both the expert and the peripheral pathologist. The system may also contribute to training and quality assessment, particularly if combined with other automated services, such as an image data bank.

Le but de ce travail est d'évaluer la qualité du diagnostic et du screening à l'aide d'un Système de Télétransmission, s'il s'avère possible de l'adapter au cytodiagnostic. Nos objectifs ont été les suivants: aide au diagnostic, formation, contrôe de qualité. Les conditions d'application au diagnostic sont Ctudiées, ainsi que les difficultés rencontriés et les avantages. Le rapport coût/efficacitè: est liéà l'expérience tant de l'expert que du pathologiste demandeur. La télétransmission peut aussi contribuer à la formation continue et á l'évaluation de qualité, en particulier si elle est associée à d'autres outils informatiques tel qu'une Banque d'Images.

deTelepathologie: eine Möglichkeit der Hilfe in der Diagnostik und Qualitätssicherung in der gynäkologischen Zytologie
Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Moglichkeiten der Teletransmissionssysteme für die Qualität von Diagnostik und Screening in der gynäkologischen Zytologie. Beurteilt wurden die Punkte Diagnose, Training und Qualitätssicherung. Vor-und Nachteile werden diskutiert. Die Kosten-Nutzen-Relation hängt von der Erfahrung des Experten und des Pathologen an der Peripherie ab. Es lassen sich Vorteile für die Ausbildung und Qualitätsicherung erzielen, insbesondere in Kombination mit anderen automatisierten Ein richtungen wie z.B. einer Daten-bank für Bilder.
