Graphical Abstract

Um die Ecke zum Ziel: Theoretische Befunde sprechen dafür, dass V-förmige Moleküle zweiachsig nematische Phasen bilden können (siehe Bild). Der eindeutige Nachweis blieb bisher aus, ist aber experimentell auch anspruchsvoll. Der jetzt eingeschlagene Weg scheint jedoch viel versprechend.
