Applied Cognitive Psychology is inviting applications for the role of Associate Editor
Applied Cognitive Psychology seeks to publish the best papers dealing with psychological analyses of memory, learning, thinking, problem solving, language, and consciousness as they occur in real-world contexts. The journal focuses on studies of human performance and basic cognitive skills in everyday environments. Particular emphases include studies of autobiographical memory, lifespan memory development, detecting truth and deception, eyewitness memory and memory reliability, learning and memory, as well as cognitive perspectives on education, consumer behaviour, and health.

The Role
Associate Editors work closely with the Editor-in-Chief in helping to steer and manage the journal, playing an active role in journal development. The key responsibility of an Associate Editor includes managing the lifecycle of a paper through the peer review process. This consists of:
- Identifying suitable referees, reviewing referees’ comments, acting as a reviewer when needed and providing feedback to authors, overseeing an effective, ethical and timely peer review process
- Deciding acceptance of manuscripts
- Ensuring the quality and soundness of articles published in the journal, by considering their compliance with ethical standards of scientific research, the relevance of the articles to the journal’s aim and scope, and the accurate use of research methods
- Inviting appropriate contributions
- Promoting the journal within relevant networks
- Liaising with authors, reviewers, the Editor-in-Chief and the Publisher to achieve these goals.

What we Require
Ideal candidates will have a strong record of publication in journals of good standing and be recognised scholars in the areas of psychology, memory, and/or related fields.
Sufficient experience as a reviewer in refereed academic journals is required, and editorial experience either as an Associate Editor and/or special issue editor is desirable.
