(a) 100 × 100 Å section of the structure of d-Al–Co–Ni based on a model of Deloudi & Steurer (2007BB21) and (b) one unit cell of its monoclinic periodic average structure, (cf. Beraha et al., 2001BB7). Both figures show projections along the tenfold axis. The chemical decoration of the atomic surfaces is still visible after the oblique projection (Al grey, Co/Ni red).
