Electrophoretic analysis of von Willebrand factor (VWF) multimers in the 1-h and 18-h storage groups in a 1·6% agarose medium-resolution gel. The dye front is at the bottom of the gel. Panel (a) shows samples from the 1-h storage group, panel (b) samples from the 18-h storage group. Lane 1, donor sample; lane 2, baseline sample; lane 3, prefiltration sample; lane 4, postfiltration sample; lane 5, plasma sample. Small (bands 1–5), intermediate (bands 6–10) and large (bands > 10) multimers have been assigned as suggested by Budde et al. [19].
