Erratum

The treatments described in the second sentence of the Abstract should read as follows:

‘The treatments compared were complete removal of rumen contents (RF0), 0·33 of rumen contents remained in rumen (RF33), 0·66 of rumen contents remained in rumen (RF66) and no rumen contents were removed from the rumen (RF100)’.

The sentence at the start of the third paragraph of the Materials and Methods (Site and experimental design) describing the treatments should read as follows:

‘From day 20 to 24 the RF treatments: complete removal of rumen contents (RF0), 0·33 of rumen contents remained in rumen (RF33), 0·66 of rumen contents remained in rumen (RF66) and no rumen contents were removed from the rumen (RF100), were applied in a 3 × 4 Youden-square design (Kuehl, 1999) with three heifers, four treatments and four periods in one day’.

The description of the treatments in the titles of Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4, which are in parentheses, should read as follows:

‘treatment RF0, complete removal of rumen contents; treatment RF33, 0·33 of rumen contents remained in rumen; treatment RF66, 0·66 of rumen contents remained in rumen; and treatment RF100, no rumen contents were removed from the rumen’.
