ChemInform Abstract

The title compound Fe7(PO4)2(HPO4)4 is prepared hydrothermally from FeCl2, ethylene glycol, H3PO4, and imidazole (H2O, 440 K, autoclave, 6 d). As revealed by single crystal XRD, it crystallizes in the triclinic space group Pequation image with Z = 1. The compound is isostructural with M7(PO4)2(HPO4)4 (M: Mn, Co). The structure is based on a framework of edge- and corner-sharing FeO6, Fe5, and PO4 polyhedra. The Fe atoms in the title compound are exclusively in the divalent state.
