A convenient synthetic method for the preparation of carbamoyldihydrofurans [cf. (III), (VI)] and related tetralon derivatives [cf. (IV)] by Mn(O-Ac)3 mediated reaction of β-dicarbonyl compounds with acrylamides (I) is developed.
