ChemInform Abstract
Novel N-acetylneuraminic acid analogues such as (IX), (XII), and (XIII) are prepared via the key intermediates (VII) and (XI) which have a versatile functional group at the 4-position of the ring skeleton. The products show inhibitory activities against both title enzymes comparable to the activity of Neu5Ac2en, although the degree of inhibition is less than that of the reference compound.
