ChemInform Abstract

A new and general procedure for the preparation of 3-unsubstituted indolizines (III) by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition is developed. In the presence of MnO2 electron-deficient alkenes (II) serve as dipolarophiles yielding the cycloadducts in moderate to high yields.
