ChemInform Abstract

The title compound is prepared by reaction of NaNH2 and NaHCN2 at 200 °C (pressed pellets, vacuum). Single crystals are grown at 500 °C (Ag crucible, argon, 8 d). Na2CN2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 2. The CN22- unit is linear and exhibits a C—N bond length of 1.236 Å.
