ChemInform Abstract

The four new fluoroaluminates of title are precipitated from aqueous HF solutions of the respective metal salts. The isotypic compounds (NH4)[M(H2O)6](AlF6) (M: Zn, Ni) crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/c with Z = 4. They represent a new structure type formed by NH4+ and [M(H2O)6]2+ cations and AlF63- anions. The structure of [Zn(H2O)6][AlF5(H2O)] (monoclinic, C2/m, Z = 4) is characterized by a H2O/F-disorder in the [AlF5(H2O)] octahedra over two trans-positions. (PyH)4[Al2F10]×4H2O crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Cmc21 (Z = 8) and contains edge-shared Al2F104- double-octahedra, which are observed for the first time.
