ChemInform Abstract
A general and convergent synthesis of the non-proteinogenic amino acid derivative (VIII) is described starting from commercially available L-aspartate (I) in good overall yield. Key step of the synthesis is a base-promoted condensation-cyclization of nitro compound (VI) with methyl isocyanoacetate (VII) to afford pyrrole derivative (VIII).
