ChemInform Abstract

A strategy towards the synthesis of non-racemic vernolepins such as (IV) is discussed. The procedure involves an unusual base-promoted elimination of sulfene imine from the mesylate (II) to yield the cis-decalin (III) as potential synthetic intermediate of (IV).
