ChemInform Abstract

This offers a general, simple, efficient method to prepare β-keto phosphonates, which are of biological interest. The presence of α-alkyl substituents, Lewis basic functionality, and modestly acidic NH-protons is tolerated. Chain extension of β-keto phosphonates containing olefinic functionality proceeds more quickly than cyclopropanation.
