ChemInform Abstract
A highly regioselective addition of trialkylmanganate to trialkyl(dibromomethyl)silanes affording the corresponding E-alkenes in high yield and selectivity is reported. The reaction also takes place in the presence of catalytic amounts of MnCl2. Furthermore, the reaction of bis(dibromomethyl)benzene (XVI) with arylmanganate (XVII) proceeds effectively to give cyclobutenes in moderate yields.
