ChemInform Abstract

In-mediated allylation of 1-acylpyridinium chlorides [cf. (I)] proceeds with high regioselectivity yielding 1-acyl-1,2-dihydropyridines. The usefulness of the new method is demonstrated by conversion of (IIIa) to racemic dihydropinidine (XI).
