ChemInform Abstract
A facile, one-step method for the preparation of naphthalene carbonitriles (III), anthrathiophenone (V) and amino naphthols (VII) via a tandem addition-rearrangement pathway is described. A possible reaction mechanism involving a non-synchronous [2 + 2] cycloaddition of an N-lithiated ketenimine and didehydronaphthalene oxide is presented.
