ChemInform Abstract

Cathylation (carboethoxylation) of pyridine derivative (II), carried out in connection with studies on the utilization of title compound (I) for construction of novel heterocycles, furnishes trace amounts of furonaphthyridine (IV). Studies on alternative routes towards this class of compounds starting from (V) unexpectedly furnish furodipyridines (VI) and (VII).
