ChemInform Abstract

The title compound is obtained as a byproduct from the reaction of Yb[N(SiMe3)2]3 with WCl6 in THF solution. [YbCl2(thf)5]+ [WOCl4(thf)]- crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2/c with Z = 2. The structure contains [YbCl2(thf)5]+ cations in which the Yb atom is coordinated in a pentagonal-bipyramidal way with the Cl atoms in the axial positions. Counterion is the well-known [WOCl4(thf)]- ion.
