ChemInform Abstract

A novel method is presented for the preparation of optically active amines by asymmetric hydrogenation of ene carbamates possessing an additional coordinating functionality. The starting carbamates are prepared from the corresponding cyclic ketones either directly by treatment with the appropriate carbamate or by formation of the enamine and subsequent treatment with an appropriate chloroformate derivative.
