ChemInform Abstract

The structure of the title compound (II) is determined by single crystal XRD (tetragonal, space group Iequation image2m, Z = 4). The structure consists of cationic [VIVVVO4]nn+ layers with OH- anions and water molecules in the interlayer region. The V—O layers are formed by edge sharing of VO5 square pyramids along the a and b axes. The compound is further characterized by EPR and TG analysis. Conductivity measurements indicate that (II) is a semiconductor.
