ChemInform Abstract

The synthesis of the title epoxide (XI) starting from commercially available (D)-glucose derivative (I) and its condensation with organometallic species is described. The so obtained tetrahydroxy compounds such as (XIII) can be converted into sphingolipids or penaresidine analogues using already known procedures.
