ChemInform Abstract
An efficient route to the non-proteinogenic title amino acid (X) is developed. The route is based on a chelation-controlled diastereoselective addition of benzylmagnesium chloride (II) to the aldehyde derived from (I) providing the syn amino alcohol (III).
