ChemInform Abstract

The successful synthesis, conformational analysis and biological testing of unreported series of (III) and polyhydroxylalkylidenehydrazono-substituted title compounds such as (VI) and type (IX) are reported. The latter are of interest since combination of an imidazolinone with a hydrophilic moiety such as glycoside, a better water solubility and improved selectivity toward cancer cells are anticipated. For antiviral activities all new compounds are tested and found to be inactive. For antitumor activities 20 glycoside-substituted derivatives were screened. Only (VIc) and (VId) showed enough activity to be further examined in additional systems.
